Your New Life

Another New Life

You wake up to the sound of surf, much, much closer than you've ever heard it unless you moseyed down to Puffin Pier back in the old days. What old days...? Why, the days when you had a body, of course. The memories are probably coming back by now, jumbled along with everything else you lost. What a wake-up call.

But at least the ocean is real, unlike your dubiously fragmented remembrances. This little island out in the middle of nowhere sports a crude sign reading DUCK DAMNED ISLAND that seems like it's really railing against whatever fate you've been left to. There are little seashells and sparkling fragments amongst the sand to the left of your face. If you look further, to the left and right, it seems you're not the only one who's woken up here; it's considerably less cushy than your last wakeup, but maybe that's not a bad thing.

Here, you're free, albeit... kind of incorporeal, as you'll soon find out. The island is covered in pretty little trees that don't quite form a forest, bowed over the really beautiful sandy beach that is way prettier than the one on the mainland. One, slightly rickety treehouse -- bare of anything, because incorporeal ghosts don't need furniture, of course -- peeks out from between the leaves. This is, apparently, your home away from home now.

Finally, there's a small bay-like area on the island that leads you to a strange-looking storm drain, marked with a symbol that's not-quite-an-apple. Stepping in will wash you alllllll the way back up to Puffin Pier, right where the sewers normally let out.

Oh, and once you step onto the mainland? You're now a duck. What kind of quacking afterlife is this.

((OOC: the tldr; about death is here!))

You again.

[Walter sounds disappointed.]

Adela's delusional, and Makima...well, she's a more straight-laced woman, but she follows the same asinine rules. I did their job with half of their resources and none of the supposed magic.

Then again, if none of this is real, what does it matter?

Hm? Delusional how?

[ He's ignoring Walter's denial, because he doesn't have time for that. ]
theotherww: (you see)

[personal profile] theotherww 2024-03-24 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
Believing in this magic, for one. Then there's claiming she just wants to spend time with everyone and her reaction to the deaths. She's not all the way here, mentally.
aurevoirx2: (wanting not to lose to anyone)

[personal profile] aurevoirx2 2024-03-24 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
[ ..... He laughs. ]

She's really fooled you with that act, has she? Death is exactly what she wants.
theotherww: (handle walkers)

[personal profile] theotherww 2024-03-24 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
No shit, she wouldn't be helping whoever's running the damn death game if she didn't. She's just insane!
aurevoirx2: (I'm crushed by the lone night)

[personal profile] aurevoirx2 2024-03-24 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
Insane is just a convenient excuse. [ Sigh. Guess he won't know the reasons why from White-san either. ]

In any case, she's the one who took our memories, you know that part, right?
theotherww: (let me watch you)

[personal profile] theotherww 2024-03-24 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
You'd know something about that, wouldn't you? [Walter huffs.]

Of course she's responsible. She timed them to come back at the points that would hurt us the most, didn't she...
aurevoirx2: (I want to surpass)

[personal profile] aurevoirx2 2024-03-24 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
Of course, since she keeps taking my memory when I go out on these Thursday nights. [ Muttering... ] It wouldn't surprise me if the fog is her doing too.
theotherww: (and make a)

[personal profile] theotherww 2024-03-24 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
Taking your memory--oh my god. Don't tell me the theory that you all turned into ducks was right.

[Then who was Country Roads duck...]
aurevoirx2: (I soar up in to the air)

[personal profile] aurevoirx2 2024-03-24 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, you all figured it out? You wanna try?

[ High-key he wants to see him try to cope with being a bald-headed duck, tbh. ]
theotherww: (cookin crystal)

[personal profile] theotherww 2024-03-24 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
...how does it work? And what exactly do you mean in regards to the memory loss? It'd explain why the one in the suit started to dissociate when I tried to ask what he was looking for.
aurevoirx2: (I'll remember them forever)

[personal profile] aurevoirx2 2024-03-24 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
Just go down that storm drain over there. [ Points to its general direction. ] And that might explain that phenomenon. Whenever someone asks us about our identity, we can't seem to answer.

Well, we possibly might have a solution to that soon? [ Blahblah things about a translator, he doesn't feel like explaining. ]
