Info + FAQ
!Basics
Morning Dews Valley is a private, invite only murdergame set in a sleepy farming town where you can forget all your worries and focus on what really matters in life. Housing will be provided, but food (aside from the canned stuff at JoJa Mart) will need to be procured the old fashioned way. Luckily, the soil is unusually fertile with seedlings growing into full crops in a matter of days. Characters will find that this spontaneous move is mandatory and non-consensual, though they may recall a period of dense fog the night before arrival, even though it seems they've forgotten something else...
The game is scheduled to run for 3 weeks, starting on March 2nd, with a maximum of 25 characters (not including mod characters) and will be run scapegoat style with a memory loss mechanic. As Morning Dews Valley is a direct invite only game, you'll need an invite from one of the moderators: Limon Basil, Fyre, or Luna to play. All reserve slots will be held for 48 hours after reserves open, before we offer the slot to someone else. At the moment there are no plans to open up the game beyond direct invites, however if this changes it will be announced on discord after reserves.

!FAQ
What's the weekly schedule like? The game schedule is as follows:
• Weekly Mingles: Monday, 1PM EST
• Festival (CR Event): Wednesday, 1PM EST • Investigation: Friday, 5PM EST
• Trial: Saturday, 1-8PM EST
• Executions: Sunday, 3PM EST
What about motives or events?
While there will be an overarching incentive for characters to murder, there won't be any tailored motives or motive announcements. For events, every Wednesday there will be a festival prompt that everyone can participate in to receive a reward. This isn't a timed event, so players can tag in at their leisure.
And the overall game schedule?
• Reserves and Applications OPEN: February 23rd, 1PM EST
• Applications CLOSE: March 1st, 1PM EST
• Game START: March 2nd, 1PM EST
• End Date: March 23rd
What types of characters can I app?
All characters need to be 16 years or older (14+ with suitability section) or mentally 16+ in the case of artificial lifeforms etc. Characters should be able to interact reasonably with a human-sized setting; unusual nonhumanoids or very large or small characters may need to be humanized or resized to some extent (feel free to ask questions and discuss with us!). Characters come as is, so your character must be alive at their canon point, and will receive no first aid for any injuries besides clean, fresh, air. Additionally, characters will need to have a corporeal body: zombies/undead with a physical form are OK. Characters with unusual states of existence such as possession, etc. will be taken on a case by case basis.
The franchise and cast cap is 3 (inclusive) (moderator characters do not count towards the cap), and OCs and CRAUs are not allowed.
Is there any form of AC/Activity Expectations?
As murdergames work best when everyone is engaged, we expect everyone to be active! However, we won't be enforcing any strict activity criteria beyond voting in trial. If you need to miss a trial for any reason, please contact us ahead of time.
As there is no traditional AC, there will also be no AC bonus system.
What about powers?
Character powers will be off for the duration of the game; this is a totally normal farming village after all✨. If your character has a special need beyond normal food/sustenance or other unusual conditions such as biological conditions, accommodations will be handled on a case by case basis. If you have any specific character concerns, feel free to ask here on the FAQ or detail them in your app.
How does the memory loss mechanic work?
Simply put, all characters will lose at least three memories before arriving in Morning Dews Valley. The memories do not need to be strictly sequential and they can be both big and small, ex: a character could forget how their first job interview went, or they could forget that they have a child. The valley is your memory loss oyster, so we encourage players to pick whatever they would have fun with/want to explore!
Will the memories be regained?
That depends how the game goes :). Some things might be better off forgotten, too.
Will there be a network?
Not to worry, our pals at Jojo Corporation hooked up the village with state of the art internet! Or uh, close enough. Typing on a keypad is a sensory experience.
So... this is Stardew Valley, right?
No! ...and yes. There are innumerable sleepy farming towns in the universes you know, though MDV does draw from Stardew Valley heavily. But not to worry, you won't have to deal with Sean or Elliott showing up dead.
How do murders work?
Every week at least one murder will occur, which means that at least three murders will occur over the course of the game. Primarily we're running on a murder proposal system, where any player is free to sign up their character to murder before the weekly deadline; all you'll need is a basic proposal and potential victims. If your proposal is accepted we'll contact you to work out the details along with your victim. In the event we receive no murder proposals for the week, we'll select killer/victim based on the OOC preference given during applications.
What about trials and investigations?
Investigations will take place on Fridays @ 5PM EST, and will start with a free-for-all body discovery segment where all characters are welcome to explore and search for that rarin' coffin treasure. After the body (or bodies) is found, investigation proper can begin: area toplevels will be provided and characters can explore at their leisure. There will be no area clear notifications, so search carefully!
Trials will take place on Saturdays to allow characters to debate and decide who to vote for; voting may take place at any time during trial and votes may be updated OOCly at any time before trial end. Please remember that voting is your AC check-in for the game and plan accordingly! Characters will be voting for one (1) culprit and a scapegoat vote (voting for an innocent party) is possible. Incidentally, characters will not be told if there is more than one killer in the case of multiple victims, nor will they be able to vote more than once.
What about executions?
Every Sunday after trial, an execution will be held for the voted character, regardless of whether they are guilty. Rather than be executed by NPCs or the environment, other player characters will carry out the execution. OOCly players will be able to submit their characters to be the executioner immediately after trial ends, and will be notified ASAP if they're selected. As this selection is entirely OOC, you're free to sign up for execution even if your character wouldn't volunteer ICly.
Once the executioner has been selected, we'll make an announcement in discord and create a group chat to plot out the execution. As the execution is threaded, the executioner will need to be present Sunday afternoon to complete the thread. An example of a player execution can be found here.
Will there be a graveyard?
Not in the traditional sense, but yes, dead characters will still have a chance to play in the game, just—differently.
What's the lowdown on Private Conversations (PCs)?
Private Conversations allow characters to conduct business, plot and plan, share information, and so forth in private without the risk of being seen or overheard by other parties. For further details, please see the PCs page.
Is there anything else I should know?
As this is a bite-sized game among friends, we're aiming for a chill vibe, along with trying out new mechanics to see what shenanigans result. We trust you, so please don't try to break the game!
Wait, I have more questions!
Drop it here and we'll be happy to answer!

Their items unfortunately, will be gone from their person. As for what attire they will find themselves in when they awaken, that's a surprise for the intro log :).
